Commemorating World War One: BBC Comission WW1 Uncut Series

15 Jan 2014

As part of this years World War One Centenary programming, the BBC commissioned a series of films exclusively for iPlayer, called WW1 UNCUT.

WW1 UNCUT will be a series of short films, presented by Dan Snow and The One Show’s Michael Douglas, offering a fresh perspective on some of the most fascinating aspects of WWI, shining a light on the real experience and answering key questions.

UPDATE: We were proud to work on such an important series of films, and below are some frames from the films “Trenches & Barbed Wire” and “A Soldier’s Kit”, which we will be released soon.

Working with Ballista Media, we created animated segments for four episodes, covering the soldier’s kit, barbed wire, trench warfare and rationing. The films look to explore different war topics in an educational yet entertaining way, giving the content a fresh and current look and feel and to help spread interest and awareness in the subject.

What excited us most about the project was the opportunity that it gave us to explore different looks and techniques, and to find the right one for each segment. Over the next few blogs, we will talk about a few of our favourite pieces.
